Day 182 Photograph Black

Day 182 Photograph Black

Still captivated by my little pink waxy flowers which look stunning against a black background.

Day 183 From the Shadows

Day 183 From the Shadows

Fog droplets glisten against a shadowy background - on foggy days I am always hunting outside for the perfect spider web!

Day 184 Clouded

Day 184 Clouded

In a bit of a rush so was just wandering around outside looking for what my picture for today might be, and this is what presented itself. The very cloudy sky provided a perfect background for a silhouette of these palm fronds.

Day 185 Side Light

Day 185 Side Light

Hanging kete (woven bags) catching some natural side light.

Day 186 Captivated

Day 186 Captivated

It was so not my intention to take a photo of cup(!) ... I was trying to capture the steam rising which I got a quite captivated by, apparently is quite difficult ... and then I ran out of time ... so this is what I ended up with today ... I will return to my steam another day!

Day 187 Now and Then

Day 187 Now and Then

Self portraits are absolutely not my thing, but I did want to give it a go for today's prompt. If anything, at least there is masses of room for improvement should I want to persevere and take more (which I am not sure I do)

Day 188 Still Life

Day 188 Still Life

Yay - still life - much more my thing!   A very out of season rose from our garden - rescued from today's rain and hail storms. I could have played around with photographing these for hours.

Day 189 Perspective

Day 189 Perspective

Standing in a second hand bookshop which had great light and objects.  My feet were in a couple of the shots but I like this one the best.

Day 190 Moving On

Day 191 Vintage Style

Day 191 Vintage Style

Vintage styles at one of our local cafes, where I took my Mum for a birthday lunch today.

Day 192 Everyday Scene

Day 192 Everyday Scene

There are some gorgeous photos in the gallery today  I am sort of on prompt, mainly off ... An everyday scene on the beach today.  We are in the middle of winter and although we are having some very cold nights (-2 brr) and frosty mornings, the days are brilliantly blue and sunny. Being a weekend, the beach was alive with people, kids, dogs and horses. A beautiful place to be.

Day 193 Zeitgeber

Day 193 Zeitgeber

The whole concept of zeitgeber was new to me so I went in search of some definitions. One I found said "an environmental cue, as the length of daylight or the degree of temperature, that helps to regulate the cycles of an organism's biological clock".A bit of a stretch maybe, but I went for the temperature aspect - frost on the beach sand this morning greeted me this morning when I went down for my morning run at about 9.30am.  -2 degrees definitely had my body thinking it should still be asleep.  Having said that it was a wonderfully invigorating way to start the day!

Day 194 Sky Blue

Day 194 Sky Blue

A perfect prompt for our current run of stunning winter days.

Day 195 Delicate

Day 195 Delicate

Only blue flower I could find today - small and delicate.

Day 196 Horizon

Day 196 Horizon

Even though our clear blue skies have been subsumed by brooding cloudy ones they still provide a stunning vista.

Day 197 Off Prompt Raindrops

Day 197 Off Prompt Raindrops

Raindrops on roses ... finding joy in the smallest of things.

Day 198 Under Cover

Day 198 Under Cover

I really didn't like the photo I posted first, so have replaced it with this one that I took later in the day - under cover in the car near sunset, having just finished a run on the beach with the rain starting to roll in - a great way to end the week.

Day 199 Tranquil

Day 199 Tranquil

A white rose rescued from the anything but tranquil day outside today.

Day 200 At the Edge

Day 200 At the Edge

Day 201 Placement

Day 201 Placement

Love the prompt to think more deliberately about placement - its something I need to practice consciously more often.  And while I was doing just that today, the fragrance from this single white bloom (another winter survivor) was just divine.

Day 202 Arranged Neatly

Day 202 Arranged Neatly

Day 203 Centred

Day 203 Centred

Maybe not the best of subjects for this prompt, but the light just after sunrise this morning was gorgeous.

Day 204 Natural Beauty

Day 204 Natural Beauty

One of the things I was doing today was looking for light in my house which would really showcase the delicate petals of this white rose.  The same beautifully perfumed white rose I have been shooting all week.

Day 205 Stacked

Day 205 Stacked

A stack of my journals.

Day 206 On the Right Side

Day 206 On the Right Side

In September I am taking up a 2 year assignment with Volunteer Services Abroad (VSA). in Vanuatu.  Part of this involves raising the profile of this organisation.  This shot is after a run yesterday in preparation for a half marathon next week that I am running in the name of VSA.  It's a bit of a decision to up and move to a small cyclone, tsunami, and eruption prone island in the Pacific for a couple of years but it feels like a decision made on the right side.

Day 207 Reflection

Day 207 Reflection

Day 208 Drive

Day 208 Drive

This is as close as I came to going for a drive today - a picture of my car.

Day 209 Thrill

Day 209 Thrill

Nothing very thrilling about the weather outside today.

Day 210 Lined Up

Day 210 Lined Up

I went to visit my Mum today to take her some soup but she wasn't home ... so since I was there I thought I might as well take my photo for the day.

Day 211 Sprawling

Day 211 Sprawling

Sprawling countryside waking up for the day ... Taken on my way 'over the hill' going into town this morning not long after sunrise.

Day 212 Sign

Day 212 Sign

This sculpture is called Ngatoro-i-Rangi Toa Matarau. It is a waharoa, or spiritual entrance to the War Memorial Cenotaph in Taupo (a city in NZ).  The sculpture tells the story of how geothermal energy came to this region.  The line of people you see are waiting to pick up their registration packs for the Taupo Marathon/Half-Marathon being held on the following day. This was on our way out after having collected our packs.
