From the looks of this window it's a little chilly out there this morning!
Day 122 Celebration
Maia will be celebrating when this comes off! He had a growth removed from the side of his muzzle (you can see the stitches poking out) so has to wear this for another week at least. And to add insult to injury, we always just make these out of buckets, which in this case happened to be bright orange. Although he is not looking his finest here, with mud on his nose and the raggedy dirty bucket (which was much cleaner when at the start of the day and even though it might look like it in the photo, does not have dangerous sharp jagged edges), and does look a little sad, he is in fact in very good spirits!
Day 123 Outlined
Not sure if this fits the brief with rim lighting, but the light was behind the leaves and I am quite intrigued by the outlines of the leaves and the shadows of these autumn leaves.
Day 124 With Flowers
I love the colours in this autumn petunia!
Day 125 Slow Down
Slowed right down to see if I could capture the simple beauty of this little flower which pops up in the stones outside.
Day 126 Where I Stand
Not so much where I stand, but what my feet were standing in this morning during my run along the beach.
Day 127 Garnish
For today's prompt my eye went straight to the word 'garnished' and then my mind went to the parsley plant I have growing and I found this new shoot! Given that we are heading into winter its probably the only new growth around...
Day 128 Soaring
I was soaring in the air today. Was beautiful above the clouds - not so nice under them - and I got this unusual propeller effect when shooting with Camera+ app. The SlowShutter app gave a different effect but I quite liked the unusual shapes and lines in this shot.
Day 129 Change the Scenery
Not my usual scenery ...Gandalf atop one of the Great Eagles at Wellington Airport ... or as the sign on the outside of the Terminal reads - Welcome to Middle Earth as some LOTR and Hobbit fans will know it (which I must admit I am not really) ...
Day 130 Bury | Safe
I saw another CY365 member's photo of her gorgeous kitty cat which made me think of my old girl who passed away a few weeks ago. Some might find this a bit morbid, but this is where she is safely buried, in a side garden where she loved...
Day 131 Purple
I found a tiny violet lobelia just hanging in there as the weather gets colder!
Day 132 Bottoms Up
This dried hydrangea petal still has some lovely soft lavender tones.
Day 133 In Nature
I took quite a few shots today but in the end settled on this one for today. Technically there are quite a few areas where it can be improved, but it is the first time I have actually been able to take a macro of something that is alive! This little bee was so engrossed in his pollen gathering duties on this echinacea flower that he paid no attention to me at all - so I don't think it was much to do with my sneaking up abilities. I did try to take another shot of a bumble bee (the big black bees with yellow stripes) on a flower but as I was getting closer behind him, he waved a leg very purposefully at me as if to say 'that's quite far enough', so I left it at that.
Day 134 Edible
Not edible or purple, but it did have its origins in the prompt. The only 'purplely' edible things I could find on hand were onions and garlic. I played around with them in some natural window light but wasn't really satisfied.
Day 135 Cherished
This wee girl is very cherished! I have been staying with my friend for a few days and this is her young dog - Alofa. Although a boisterous girl (being a border collie/lab X ), she is also so very gentle and loving.
Day 136 Intensity
I wanted to explore the light in this shot. There is a hint of purple in the centre of this dried flower (whose name I can't remember!) but you don't really see it. I do however love the way the flower is lit up by the sunlight.
Day 137 Lit Up
Bit of a different take on 'lit up' - using the light of where I was, which was at an airport, and I liked the strong lines and angles here.
Day 138 Space
Red autumn leaf against a cloudy high key sky space.
Day 139 Empty| Dry
Am working inside today, so this is what today's prompt brings - my take with an empty, dry glass.
Day 140 Room to Move
The upward motion of this yellowing yucca plant tip, with the remnants of fog droplets on a spider web thread, against the vidid blue sky caught my eye this morning - as it stretches to the sky, it has all the room in the world to move.
Day 141 Spin
Played a little with the SlowShutter app on my Iphone today. I didn't quite get the spinning sensation I was after ... but it does have a hint of 'spinniness' in there and I learnt a few new things.
