Day 91 Light Painting

Day 91 Light Painting

I didn't get to play around with any light painting on my phone today but I did love the light and shadows of this toetoe (pronounced toy toy) grass :-) 3 months down! Yay!

Day 92 Sundown (Photo of the Day today!)

Day 92 Sundown (Photo of the Day today!)

For most of you, your sundown is my sunrise ... these grass stalks took on beautiful glow as the sun rose, heralding the start of another blessed day down under.  This photo was awarded Photo of the Day today!

Day 93 In the Sky

Day 93 In the Sky

It is a very nondescript cloudy sky out there today. So, inspired by Lit & Lettres wonderful shot, I went for shooting against the sky today. The branches of our old plum tree stood out in beautiful silhouette, and then I decided to really make them the star of their own show with some processing in photogene.

Day 94 In the Garage

Day 94 In the Garage

There is no moving things around in this garage! Well, it's a shed really and my Dad has several of them filled with "stuff" like this. The chaos of it all does my head in, but I have to say, with sheds like this, very rarely will the answer to the question " have you got a .... "? be No! Also, I was skeptical, but the light in these spaces is very good! So that is something new I learnt today!

Day 95 Dappled

Day 95 Dappled

The sun refused to make a lasting appearance today, so my dappling and flecking has to come from raindrops on leaves.

Day 96 Gathering

Day 96 Gathering

Gathering clouds!

Day 97 Bunch

Day 97 Bunch

I decided this week I would teach myself how to properly use the Camera+ app on my iphone. Katrina's advice to get close is just made for an iphone, so I settled on this bunch of keys, which coincidentally also reminded me to lock my focus when I was shooting!

Day 98 Where I Stand

Day 98 Where I Stand

More of a where I sit shot for today. Sadly, this morning I had to take my dear 15 year old cat to the vet to be put to sleep. This is our last sit together this morning. She was such a wonderful and loyal cat- so laid back, and calm in the face of lots of moves and changes throughout her life. She will be so so missed, but I take great comfort in knowing she had a great life, is no longer suffering, and is very happy with the lay of land in cat heaven!

Day 99 Cheers

Day 99 Cheers

This is what I ended up with today - L&P - Lemon & Paeroa - World Famous In NZ is the tag line on the bottle! A sweet soft (soda) drink, it was originally made in the early 1900s with spring water from a small town called Paeroa. The town has a giant size L&P bottle at its entrance. It is now made by Coca Cola, and I can't say I drink it very often, but I did have this bottle which I kept because I knew one day I would want to photograph it! Cheers!

Day 100 Stacked

Day 100 Stacked

What sits stacked beside my bed right now - some read, some partially read, and some still waiting to have their first page turned ... and I should have put my kindle in that pile as well! Taken with my iphone, with a little centre focus added in processing to make it a little more interesting :-) 100 days of pictures - wow!!

Day 101 Step Outside

Day 101 Step Outside

I did step outside today, and it is a very lovely tail-end of summer, possibly sliding into autumn (fall) type of day.  I spotted a shoot from a type of vine coming over our fence and got a bit captivated by the light.  Still working with my camera+ app on my iphone (where you can separately adjust and lock focus and exposure), I captured sunlight and shadows on the vine curl being illuminated in purple-toned sunlight.

Day 102 Prepared

Day 102 Prepared

I struggled a little with today's prompt. I went searching for inspiration, and while I found some wonderful examples of food photography, being overwhelmed, as opposed to inspired, was primarily the result. I came back to myself and thought about what I could photograph, what I wanted to photograph today. I thought about how one of the photos on pinterest had included an apron. That led me to think about an apron I have. It is from my time in Morocco with my (ex) sister-in-laws. The remote area in the mountains in the south where they are from has this check-pattern long apron (it goes to mid-calves or below) as daily attire while they go about completing their many chores for the day. So this apron reminds of the many memories I have of preparing meals with them - with very minimal ingredients or tools - squatting in the dimly lit kitchen room preparing the soup or couscous for the night. Sometimes I wear this when I want to be reminded of them

Day 103 ROYGBIV

Day 103 ROYGBIV

Even though I take all my photos with my iphone and am constantly pushing to see how far it can go, I was surprised today at how vividly it recorded the colour spectrum on a CD. Taken with camera+, exposure and focus hardly adjusted, and no processing. I love the colours in this!

Day 104

Day 104

I started off by looking for complementary colours but got captivated with taking pictures of a miniature fushia flower with a macro lens on my phone. The colours are very complementary to my eyes ;-)

Day 105 Blue

Day 105 Blue

Blue is my absolute favourite colour so I LOVE the gallery today! I didn't have much time, but it was a chance to look at the stunning blues of the paua (abalone) shell again. As shown by the stunning images today, nature gives us the most perfectly wonderful shows of colour!

Day 106 Look Up

Day 106 Look Up

My original thought was to take a shot involving our dogs. However, they were spectacularly uncooperative, so I had to settle for this striking, and much more cooperative, palm tree :-)

Day 107 Naturally Bright | Intense | Hues

Day 107 Naturally Bright | Intense | Hues

I have to admit to being a little uncharitably envious today of the photos of gorgeous spring flowers and spring sunlight ... when down here where I am we have had a rude reminder that summer is indeed over! So today, bright light was a little bit lacking but there were some brief pockets and I managed to find this hardy and vibrant hydrangea bloom tucked away. It was a bit windy so this is the best I could do :-)

Day 108 Flashy

Day 108 Flashy

Not much time today to devote to my photo. My flashy, sparkly ipad cover will have to do!

Day 109 Collection

Day 109 Collection

Although I love collections of things, because I have moved around a bit over the past few years, I haven't been able to be a collector of anything! So I was a bit stuck today both with prompt and time, so had to go with what was in front of me! Hopefully these count as a collection!

Day 111 Writing

Day 111 Writing

My Dad has the most crazy, albeit very distinctive writing. I was drawn to this shot today - taken from a letter he wrote to me 20 years ago which I still have.

Day 110 Symmetry | Balance

Day 110 Symmetry | Balance

Yesterday's photo. I love the patterns and symmetry nature provides all around us. Palms are just wonderful for this. Not entirely symmetrical but full of wonderful patterns and lines. This shot I touched up a little in post processing as it had alot of dirt splashes from a storm the other day that I couldn't seem to clean off!

Day 112 Both Sides Match

Day 112 Both Sides Match

I had another totally different photo picked out because I see so many things in this one that I would want to improve on. But then I thought no - this is what today brought so that is ok! I did add quite a strong vignette blur in editing to try to get rid of a very cluttered and unsightly background.

Day 113 Hands Full

Day 113 Hands Full

The seasoned hands of a fisherman - my Dad. He had his hands full of hooks today, and I was lucky enough to be able to spend the day with him out on the sea doing what he loves.

Day 114 Sunrise

Day 114 Sunrise

Always my favourite time of the day, I find it so magical to see the day awaken before my eyes.

Day 115 Side by Side

Day 115 Side by Side

April 25 is ANZAC day here in New Zealand. It is observed in both New Zealand and Australia and while it commemorates a specific battle on this day in 1915 in Gallipoli, Turkey, it is also a commemoration of all those who have served our country in various wars and conflicts. This year is particularly poignant because it is the 100 year anniversary of the Gallipoli battle. The poppy is an internationally recognised symbol of remembrance, with it worn in great numbers at all the ceremonies and parades throughout NZ (and Australia) today. For myself, I have mixed feelings about some aspects of how we commemorate and what we remember, but my heart is always moved by thoughts of those many thousands who did not return home to their loved ones.

Day 116 Close Up

Day 116 Close Up

I love taking macros, but have yet to perfect the all important art of sneaking up on things that move. This bug (who was kind enough to position himself on a red leaf which contrasted so well with his own green suit) really was a master of patience, because he let me muck around for ages! Actually he was so patient I did wonder whether he was in fact awake! So for his patience I think he totally deserves his starring role today.

Day 117 Right Light

Day 117 Right Light

A stormy day here, the only light around is the one that comes out of a lamp - so I guess that makes it the 'right light'.

Day 118 Focal Point

Day 118 Focal Point

Still wet, windy and a bit wild outside, so looked indoors again to reflect the prompt for today.

Day 119 Canopy

Day 119 Canopy

A run and shoot to get something before the rain comes down again! Luckily our palms are quite photogenic and can fit many a prompt! I am just the tiniest bit envious today of all your lovely blue skies and beautiful blossoms.

Day 120 Flame

Day 120 Flame

Today's result ... I really enjoy taking pictures of candle flame but I think I need a new candle because the flame wouldn't do what I envisioned it should ... settled on this one of a top down view with a bit of processing.
